Panda's Pint Glass Special

So our friend Panda makes this dessert called the 'Pint-Glass-Special' which is essentially diabetes in a cup--and it is glorious--I regret nothing.

So My friends and I walked into town, met at the Tesco's and bought a few things to bring to Deerpark...
 Biscuits, and ice-cream were musts...

We started with a layer of roughly crumbled biscuits...
followed by Mars bars we slowly melted with milk in the microwave...

While the bananas were frying in the honey we added a scoop or two of vanilla ice-cream to each glass...
By now they looked something like this!
These steps were repeated until the class was full!

They look wonderful! add a spoon and dig in!

 Cheers!

Buttercup Cafe

Cork is a beautiful city filled with colorful places and even more interesting people, but one place that has grabbed my attention recently is the Buttercup Cafe across from the Cork Butter Museum

Many of you might remember a post I put up awhile ago from our first visit there...

Well, that day we made a pact, more or less, to make a point to hang out on Fridays/weekends from there on out--to keep in touch and have fun. We planned on returning to Buttercup for breakfast next Friday morning, and this post is the result of that.
I met Michelle at the Music Department across the River from my apartment when her Trad. Irish Dance class got out and we walked down the hill towards the city center because we were to meet Leo at the cinema in half an hour-ish...It didn't take nearly that long to walk there though, so we ambled up and down the river to pass the time, Michelle skipping about practicing her dancing. Good times. The first few pictures of this post are from that walk.
Having not eaten all day, I was quite hungry and ordered a whole meal...
Leo and Michelle both ordered a mini traditional Irish Breakfast: eggs, toast, sausage, bacon, and black pudding... I was asked to describe black pudding--my only experience with such being from 7 years ago when I ordered an Irish breakfast as my first meal for my first ever visit to Ireland. I was expecting chocolate pudding...the sweet custard-like stuff, not THAT. I didn't remember much, other than I wasn't a fan.
And, as is right, we ordered a pot of tea between us (and some cute cupcakes to go with it) ^_^

 Another fun morning in Cork!

One of these days I will post an entire blog entry of nothing but the cool graffiti and the awesome buildings and doors seen around Cork/Ireland...

When Michelle and I were returning to my apartment I stopped in the 02 store to change the plan on my phone. These two sweetie-pies were there and Michelle had a ball (no pun intended) playing with the puppies while she patiently waited for me.

And we went inside Dealz, intending to get some supplies for the apartment and possibly a snack, but ended up getting cocoa mix and My Little Pony coloring books...I regret nothing.
oh, right. Along with the coloring books I got some lollies. When I unwrapped this one, Michelle didn't even skip a beat, "it's a Packer's lollipop!". Why yes, yes it is...

Another one of our traditions now is to meet for nosh and coffee after our archaeology class on Wednesdays with dinner at my place before Med-Ren.
I will be posting pictures from the archaeology field trip soon as well...
Looking out the window I thought a sprinkler was on or a hose left unattended from the construction site nearby because it was sunny out, it didn't look like rain. Apparently I was wrong, because when we got outside we saw this!
Apparently I should also make a blog-post with nothing but rainbow pictures, Lord knows I have many of 'em.

So second semester has started out quite nicely. ^_^

Clontarf Training Weekend

For those of you who do not know at this point, this year is the 1000 year anniversary of the Battle of Clontarf.
Needless to say, I will be joining some of my friends from Med-Ren (as well as other reenactment groups from around the world) to take part in the event of a lifetime this April in Dublin.

Last weekend was a training weekend (mostly for the combat side of things) of the event.
Leo, Michelle, and I went nonetheless to meet/make new friends and get a better idea of what to expect in April.

The first day took place in St. Anne's PArk (where the actual event will largely take place in April) and it was dark and wet and cold, so Leo, Michelle and I went to the cafe with Kurt and some others to craft a bit and enjoy the hot cocoa... we crashed at Ian's place that night--he was quite kind to take us in after our plans at the hostel fell through.
That night we went to Club Hell. O'Reilly's pub turns into a club each night--Club Hell--A metal  bar with a cool/gothic interior and (nicely priced) drinks.
It was a blast!
The next day was in Swords, like the training weekend was last semester...though gratefully it was indoors this time.
Kurt, being his amazing self...and possibly going a little mad with amount of pouches he has to make in preparation for Clontarf and Flags...
 Huzzah for more hair braiding!
Michelle had some hair-scrunchies in her bag...but they were pink and sparkly... that was no problem!

Piggie-tails for the win!

oh, right, and there were shenanigans with make-up as well.We were originally going to go for a war-paint kind of thing...but the whiskers won out in the end

I do believe a lot of fun was had by all!

We all stopped for food at the Old Schoolhouse before heading home.

curry and fajitas and chips, oh my!
Waiting in the Dublin Airport to catch our bus back home...
Leo braided my hair again...
Panda is nalbinding a pouch for Leo and Michelle is...being fabulous.
 This was an amazing weekend!
I am even more excited for Clontarf in April!
