Walking through city centre on my way to register with immigration, I saw this...
"Erected through the efforts of the Cork Young Ireland Society to
perpetuate the memory of the gallant men of 1798 1803 48 and 67 who
fought and died in the wars of Ireland to recover her sovereign
independence and to inspire the youth of our country to follow in the patriotic footsteps and imitate their heroic example..." |

So I sat, for the second day in a row inside the Angle Sea Street Garda Station waiting for immigration...I sat for over 5 hours. I went from being #47 in line at around 13:00pm to being #4 around 16:00pm--and then they close the window. There is supposed to be 2 working the immigration windows I am told, but there was only one person to deal with all of us--poor lady. Now I must wait for the evening hours designated for UCC's international students on Tuesday to finish filing all my paperwork. And so it goes. |

This is on one possible shortcut to a friend's house--I find myself navigating by churches nowadays. They are easy to see and pretty distinctive. Plus you have nice things to see while you walk from here to there. |

Nighttime view of the River Lee on our way over to the Fran. Well. A fun night--tried the pumpkin Porter--it reminded me of home and the Walpurgisnacht party I will be missing this year, but the wonderful company made up for the fun afternoon had at the garda station :) |
