Pre-Patrick's Day Weekend

So, you might have been waiting for this...it's St. Patrick's day weekend, and there are shenanigans to announce.
The weekend started off with plenty of street-art, music, and a fair dash of dancing thrown in.

Balloons, face-paint, and magicians for children were on every street corner!
I even got to meet some of these charming people.

Yer man here got tips for floating around all day--sounds like fun to me! The sign beneath him said, "photo allowed with donation", so once Michelle took this picture for me (I had forgotten my memory-card at home) I gave her some change to put in the bucket--he, in turn, handed her a piece of paper which read, "Smile! :) Have a nice day!"--and we did!

Oh, and the little kids dancing and running around to the traditional music was an absolute JOY.

 MAGIC!

I am still not quite sure what yer man was doin' there...but the kids seemed to like it!
These folks here actually sounded pretty good, though the video I got doesn't capture it quite well.

We walked along the river back home to relax and prepare for tomorrow...

There was SUNSHINE! I know we didn't have a "real" winter here, but that didn't mean we were all tanning on the beach either--seeing sun again for the first time in a long time was rather refreshing!
Included in the day's shenanigans were touristy souvenirs and candy: Turkish delights, candied-nuts, lollipops, a Cork pin, a pin with both an Irish and American flag, some cute sheep, and a magnet of Obama drinking a Guinness which reads,
“Is féidir linn”

"Yes we can"

There were loads of folk out enjoying the sun!

A HAPPY DAY WAS HAD BY ALL

  1. So glad you got to have a St. Patrick's Day in Ireland! Wish I could've seen it with you. The Battle of Clontarf 1000th anniversary will be just as much fun.
