Nouns,
Adjectives, and Colors, oh my!!!!
"A
noun's a special kind of word,
It's any name you ever heard.
I find it quite interesting,
A noun's a person, place or thing!"
It's any name you ever heard.
I find it quite interesting,
A noun's a person, place or thing!"
Okie
dokies, if you have kept up with us to this point then more power to ya!--or as
I learned to say earlier today--"maith thú!"
(sounds like "ma hoo")
(sounds like "ma hoo")
which literally means "good on
you!"
Now we'll be doing NOUNS!
I will do my best to make useful
sentences with them, but most of that will start with what we go over in
the next post.
Here we go...
Spelling --English translation-- How it sounds
Nouns:
peann----------pen-------pee-owe-nleabhar--------book----low-er (as in 'loud')
bord-----------table---(as in 'I am bored out of my mind!')
cthaoir--------chair-----caw-heer
ríomhaire---computer-----reev-ra
fuinneog----window------fwin-owe-g
bosca----------box----------bawsh-ka

Now you can practice being a simplton asking people what this confounded thing called a pen is...
Cad é seo?---what is this/that?--cod ay show?
seo é (peann)--it's a (pen)-------show ay (pee-owe-n)
Clothes:
because if ye can't talk about where you got that awesome sweater, what's the point?

bróga-----shoes---------------bro-ga
stocaí----stockings/socks--stock-ee
cóta--------coat---------------coat-a
hata----------hat----------------hot-a
Okay, here's the
thing. A "sweater" here is a "jumper"...this never made
sense to me. I always thought a jumper was a pair of overalls.
I had to google a
picture of some overalls to explain my confusion because an overall (singular)
is yet another word for a sweater!
(because it goes
over all of your other clothes)
Kyra is not
amused...
"unpack your
adjectives..."

Tune in next week for some
verbal nouns,
emotions,
and the past tense!
