Shandon Bells

On my Geography class' last field trip we mentioned the Shandon Bells at st. Anne's Church...
You can even see the golden fish weather vane up top!
It is also called the 'four faced liar' because the clocks never tell the same time--they are always a few minutes apart. Last week it was a big deal because all the clocks stopped at the same time, 3 minutes to 7:00, I think.
sitting on the steps of the church...When ya get inside you can pay to go to the tower and ring the 18th century bells! (only 4 euro per student). I got a postcard too...

These two were taken from the front gate to preserve them... John and Joan I think were their pet names :)

The ropes for the bells were numbered and there was a book with music so you could play a little song! How cute!
this room used to be two separate floors. There is now  random floating door...

At this point ye put on the headphones given to ya at the front door... it can get pretty loud right next to the bells!
We could see the old pendulum for the clocks on the floor below which are now attached to small electric motors.
The stairs got smaller and more narrow the higher ye went...
At one point you are stepping over steps and under beams and brush right past one of the bells! you climb out of the stone staircase, under the bell, up some wooden steps, through a little hole and onto a new stone stairway smaller than the previous ones! It can be quite nerve-wracking until you get all the way to the top!

Any pictures of me Aliette took :)

 Aliette posted the picture below:

The stairs going back down were scary...
Thanks to Aliette for taking the bell pictures too!

We went to the Butter Museum but it was closed...this cafe was next door but we thought we would go here for some homemade ice-cream maybe next weekend if the Butter Museum was open...
Ye know that optical illusion thing ya see on the internet all the time?
Randomly saw this on the way back to town...

Cornmarket Street is the place to be Saturdays!

I got Chili Garlic Mustard and a bottle of Organic Apple Juice (had a nice chat with the girl who made it) and shared some Carrot & Coriander Soup with Aliette! :D

 A good day I'd say!
